ABOUT THE EVENT

Keeler University is inviting technician teams as well as doctors (MD/OD attendance is optional) to come together and learn. Join us on November 17th for an in-depth course on IOL calculations for refractive cataract surgeries. This course has been awarded 6.5 JCAHPO Group A credit hours.* Come join us for food, products, and learning. Seats are limited and on a first come first serve basis.

*This course is not sponsored by JCAHPO; only reviewed for compliance with JCAHPO standards and criteria and awarded continuing education credit accordingly; therefore, JCAHPO cannot predict the effectiveness of the program or assure its quality in substance and presentation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

With ever increasing patient expectations and the advent of advanced technology intraocular lenses, cataract surgery has now moved into the realm of refractive surgery. This demands that cataract surgeons and technicians alike must take a team approach, continuously evaluating the accuracy of pre-operative measurements, IOL calculations, and surgical techniques. Everyone on the team must understand the following: intraocular lenses and their constants, what affects post-operative lens position, which modern calculation formulas are recommended, best practices for keratometry, the nuances of toric IOL calculations, the principles involved in both optical and ultrasound biometry and ensuring proper alignment, best practices for measuring and calculating challenging eyes such high myopes, those with macular disease, and those that have had prior refractive surgery. This comprehensive course will discuss all of these aspects and will strive to ensure that all attendees leave with an understanding of the tools needed for premium, refractive cataract surgery.
